Ashkelon
lies on western side of Israel, a region that is called “the Coastal Plains”.
It has a beautiful long beach, and many people go there to sun bathe and enjoy
swimming in the sea.
Few
people know that Ashkelon has a marina, and a marine life. Every pupil in the 7
th grade studies marine education on a weekly basis. There is a marine school
inside the marina, and the teachers there teach pupils how to row a kayak and
how to be on a boat. I took those lessons last year. It was a wonderful
experience to go out to the sea.
Furthermore,
every year there is a flotilla coming to Ashkelon Marina. It is called The
E.M.Y.R Flotilla. About 100 yachts from all over the world port here. The
people on the yachts stay here for a few days, enjoying Ashkelon’s hospitality
and move on to the next port.
I
invite you to visit our lovely and modern city. You will not want to leave.
Would love to visit your beautiful city of Ashkelon one day. I am impressed to see young students have an engaged interest in educating the world about their beloved country, Israel.
